Today's idea:
Do your banking online, it's faster, cheaper (no stamps) and greener (as long as you cancel your paper statements!) Enrolling in electronic banking or billpay usually will not automatically cancel the paper statements from being mailed, so make sure you follow up with that second step. And if you already do your banking online double-check that you're not getting paper sent as well.

Today's idea:
Make your recycling easily accessible. Try putting a recycling bin next to every trash bin in your house so that it is never easier to throw something away than to recycle it.

Starting with something easy and basic:
Buy a re-usable bottle. Sigg seems to be the bottle of choice since the Nalgene BPA estrogen scare. (Nalgene is in the process of reissuing their bottles BPA free, these are currently available at their website.)
But for now Sigg is much easier to find (not to mention much cuter). They're available at Whole Foods, EMS, and REI as well as seemingly every health related or health conscious store I have wandered into recently.

If you already have a bottle, start thinking about where else you might use it... (For instance, I recently noticed that, while I would bring mine along in situations where I might otherwise need to buy a bottle of water, I was still using the paper cups on the side of the water jug at work while my Sigg sat empty in my bag.)

The Idea

So the basic idea here is:
There are countless easy things we can to do to live a greener more sustainable life but we tend to get the information all at once and it can all be a little overwhelming. Or we get the information and think that it's a great idea and that we'll do it... later.
Or, at least I do.
So here I will provide one idea for something environmentally friendly to do everyday. Something easy and manageable, that I plan on implementing that day and think maybe you should too. Just one a day, everyday.

Cheers,
C. C.
